Site Overview
The Society manages eight sites across Brentwood, which are listed below. All sites are provided with a water supply and have the appropriate number of first aid boxes (locations of which are clearly indicated on site and on the site plans). Each site has gated entrances which are required to be kept locked at all times.
Bishops Hall Road
This is our smallest site with a plot area of 84 rods and is bounded by King George’s Road, Elizabeth Road and Bishops Hall Road. It has 20 plots ranging from 2.5 rods to 5 rods and there are 15 plot-holders, each with one or more plots.
The entrance to the site is at the junction of Bishops Hall Road and Elizabeth Road. There is no on-site parking and street parking can be restrictive.
It is recommended that you only apply for this site if you are within walking distance.
The site is represented on Committee by Jackie.
Crescent Road
Crescent Road is one of our small sites and covers a plot area of 193 rods with approximately 26 plot holders on 41 plots of 2.5 to 5 rods. It is located at the end of a track leading off Crescent Road adjacent to the railway bridge. It has ample car parking.
The site is represented on Committee by Sarah and Pauline.
Hartswood
Hartswood is our largest allotment site and covers a plot area of 1100 rods with approximately 160 plot-holders. It is located between the railway line and King Georges playing fields. It has 258 plots ranging from 1 to 5 rods. The main access is via the King George’s Park car park on Hartswood Road. There is also a pedestrian gate located at the Ingrave Road end of the site. There is ample car parking on this site. As with other sites there are no on-site toilet facilities, but these are available at the Park Café which is a short walk away.
NB. The King George’s car park is locked overnight. Take care not to get your car locked in.
The site is represented on Committee by Ian, Arthur and Steve.
Honeypot Lane
Honeypot Lane is one of our small sites and covers a plot area of 155 rods with approximately 23 plot holders on 33 plots of between 2.5 and 5 rods. There is adequate parking on site but the entrance off Honeypot Lane is rather hazardous. We arranged for a safety mirror to be erected to aid road safety.
The site is represented on Committee by Neil and Nigel.
Middle Road
Middle Road is one of our small sites and covers a plot area of 165 rods with approximately 33 plot holders on 39 plots of 2.5 to 5 rods. (Following the removal of some trees and bushes in 2026 we are hoping to create circa 7 extra plots). It is located in the village of Ingrave on Middle Road and is on the left immediately after the last house when leaving the village. It has ample car parking. It is normally the site with the longest waiting list.
The site is represented on Committee by Dave and Alan.
Ongar Road
Ongar Road is the largest of our small sites and covers a plot area of 273 rods with approximately 40 plot holders on 61 mainly 5 rod plots. It is located via a track off the Ongar Road in the vicinity and opposite Larchwood Gardens and Tiny Treasures Day Nursery. There is adequate parking on site.
The site is represented on Committee by Sue, Peter and Robert.
Park Road
Park Road is our second largest site and covers a plot area of 630 rods divided into 128 mainly 5 rod plots with approximately 80 plot holders. It is no longer adjacent to Park Road as flats were constructed on the first 70 or so plots. The main entrance is via the Capon Close flats car park. (Please note, parking and waste disposal bins are reserved for flat occupants). There is parking on-site but in Winter it can be difficult. There is a second pedestrian entrance from Cleves Avenue where there is some on street parking.
The site is represented on Committee by Elizabeth and Iain.
River Road
River Road is our second smallest site and covers a plot area of 121 rods with approximately 24 plot holders on 31 plots of 2.5 to 5 rods. It is located on River Road opposite the children’s playground. There is no parking on site and street parking is almost impossible. From experience we restrict this site to those who are within walking distance.
The site is represented on Committee by Vernon.
