The Society

Brentwood Horticultural Society has the following aims:

  1. To manage the allotment sites as detailed in the constitution and to protect the interests of those sites and their tenants.
  2. To advance education and understanding relating to the benefits of allotment gardening.
  3. To help promote physical and mental health.
  4. To provide an environment where allotment holders can work together for common benefit.
  5. To demonstrate a commitment to equality towards all members.
  6. To ensure that all members behave in a manner that ensures equality and is to the good of all of the Society.

    All plot holders and people who work on allotment plots are required to be a member of the Society

The current membership fee is an annual payment of £6 per person.

Allotments

We manage eight allotment sites in Brentwood on behalf of the Brentwood Borough Council. The society currently has around 450 members.

Blog

Park Road has a new water supply

After a great deal of planning, the Park Road site finally has a completely new water supply. The project was completed in three days and involved the laying of over 400m of pipework and the installation of new tanks across the site. This work will vastly improve the speed with which the tanks are refilled.

New Vice Chair

At the recent AGM, Neil Hornsby stood down as Vice Chair having reached the end of his term in office. The Chair thanked Neil for hios many years of service to the work of the Society. WE are pleased to announce that Jackie Fretton has agreed to take on the role of Vice Chair.
