After a great deal of planning, the Park Road site finally has a completely new water supply. The project was completed in three days and involved the laying of over 400m of pipework and the installation of new tanks across the site. This work will vastly improve the speed with which the tanks are refilled.
Ongoing site works – improving the sites for all members
At the recent AGM the Chair gave an update on the continuing programme of improvements across the different sites. The main projects are:
Water main replacement to Park Road Site
- Supplies have been purchased but a contractor needs to be engaged.
Fencing to Hartwood Site
- This along with new expanded gates, has been completed.
Fencing to Crescent Road Site
- This has been half completed.
Honey Pot Lane Site
- Brambles that were on the perimeter have been removed, not sure who by? This has caused a problem in that there is now no boundary.
- Council Representatives when contacted were unaware of the removal.
- The land adjacent is owned by Oxford Uni Pension Fund, so the assumption is that the land is being tidied up in readiness to be sold – possibly for housing. But hard to confirm at the moment.
New Vice Chair
At the recent AGM, Neil Hornsby stood down as Vice Chair having reached the end of his term in office. The Chair thanked Neil for hios many years of service to the work of the Society.
WE are pleased to announce that Jackie Fretton has agreed to take on the role of Vice Chair.
Allotment Society AGM
The AGM for Brentwood Horticultural Society was held on Saturday 3rd February at Warley Scout Hall. There were reports from the Chairman, Vice Chair and the Treasurer.
