Welcome to the website for the Brentwood Horticultural Society CIO.
The Society is responsible for eight allotment sites across the Brentwood area with over 600 individual allotment plots of various sizes (but predominately either 2.5 or 5 rods — approx. 62.5 or 125 square metres). We have around 400 plot-holding members who are supported by approximately 200 co-workers/helpers.

About us
Brentwood Horticultural Society was founded over 150 years ago, founded originally as the Brentwood and District Gardeners and Allotment Society. A more detailed history is on our History page.
We manage 8 allotment sites in Brentwood and now have a 25 year lease for each site with Brentwood Council. A copy of them can be found on our documents page.
As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation we presently have 7 Trustees. Two are independent and the remaining 5 are plot holders. More details can be found on our Governance page. There is a separate Management Committee with site representatives from each site.

History
The Society was formed 1872 by Countess Tasker from Middleton Hall, Tasker Lane (now Middleton Hall Road, Brentwood) and was called the Brentwood and District Gardeners and Allotment Society. The first shows were held at Middleton Hall, (now Brentwood Preparatory School).
